Nomadic Birding

Before you join us

What to know before a walk.

This is a plain-language summary, not a lawyer-drafted legal waiver. It's what we ask everyone to read and agree to before a free walk. Once tours involve payment or driving further afield, we'll replace this with a proper signed waiver — see the plan's v2 notes. If you're Chris or Adrienne reading this before launch: worth a quick look from an actual lawyer, especially for the driving-to-a-site scenario.

Birding outdoors carries some real risk

Uneven or muddy trails, insects and ticks, sun and weather, wildlife, and — when a walk involves driving to a nearby spot — ordinary road risk getting there. We'll use good judgment and call things off if conditions turn, but we can't eliminate these risks, and by joining a walk you're accepting them for yourself and anyone in your group.

We follow the ABA Code of Birding Ethics

No baiting, no playback near nesting birds, no trespassing, and we keep a respectful distance from wildlife and other birders. We ask everyone with us to do the same. Read the full code →

No guarantees

We'll do our best to find birds, but wild animals don't follow a schedule. A quiet morning is still a good morning outside.

Kids welcome, with an adult

Anyone under 18 needs a parent or guardian along for the walk.

Use your judgment, and so will we

If a trail, a river crossing, or the weather doesn't look right to you, sit that part out — no hard feelings. We may also ask someone to turn back if we think it's the safer call.
